Josh King earns maiden England call-up

Fulham have a reason to celebrate this week after midfielder Josh King was handed his first senior England call-up by Thomas Tuchel, with Cole Palmer left out of the squad once again.

Football365 reports that Tuchel snubbed the Chelsea forward for a second time, instead handing first call-ups to Jobe Bellingham and Fulham's own Josh King (Football365). West London Sport confirms the news from Fulham's perspective, noting that King has been named in the England squad for the first time while Palmer misses out (West London Sport).

Sky Sports focuses on the reaction from within the England camp, reporting that assistant coach Alvaro Arbeloa spoke about King's call-up (Sky Sports). West London Sport picks up on those same comments, with Arbeloa reportedly describing the 19-year-old as "the pride of our club" following his elevation to the senior set-up (West London Sport).

According to West London Sport, King has travelled with Tuchel's squad to Florida ahead of the upcoming fixtures, underlining just how highly he is now regarded on the international stage (West London Sport). All four outlets agree on the key facts: this is a landmark first call-up for the young Fulham midfielder, coming at Palmer's expense, and it has been met with warm words from inside the England camp.

For Fulham supporters, it's a proud moment to see a academy product recognised at the highest level, and a reminder of the progress King has made under Marco Silva this season. With Fulham turning their attention to Newcastle United at Craven Cottage on Saturday 7 November, fans will hope King returns from international duty fit, firing and full of confidence after such a significant step in his career.
