Nketiah strike sends Fulham out of Carabao Cup to Crystal Palace

Fulham's Carabao Cup campaign came to an end as Crystal Palace won 0-1 at Craven Cottage to reach the quarter-finals.

Sports Mole previewed the tie by noting Fulham were looking to achieve an EFL Cup feat for the first time in 26 years, while FulhamFC.com (FulhamFC.com) carried the official matchday preview ahead of the visit of Crystal Palace. Once the game got underway, Sky Sports (Sky Sports) reported that Eddie Nketiah put the Eagles ahead with what they described as "a deft finish".

That goal proved decisive, with Sky Sports (Sky Sports) confirming the final outcome as Fulham 0-1 Crystal Palace, with Nketiah's effort steering the Eagles into the Carabao Cup quarter-final. Sky Sports also published highlights of the match (Sky Sports), giving fans a chance to see the goal and the key moments from Craven Cottage.

The Guardian (The Guardian) added context to the result, framing it as a win that gives Palace boss Pierre Sage some breathing space, and pointing out that it marked a fifth victory for Crystal Palace over Fulham on their own patch in the space of 18 months. That detail suggests this has become a tricky recent fixture for Fulham at home, at least according to the Guardian's reporting.

All the outlets agree on the key facts: Nketiah's goal settled the tie and sent Crystal Palace through to the last eight of the competition, ending Fulham's hopes of the cup run referenced by Sports Mole before kick-off.

Attention for Fulham now turns to the Premier League, with a trip to Villa Park to face Aston Villa on Saturday 31 October.
